The Route, Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam

Welcome to Tanzania!

Arrive at Julius Nyerere International Airport , where your safari journey begins. You’ll be welcomed by our local representative and transferred to your hotel in Dar es Salaam.

Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a relaxing evening at your hotel or take a short walk along the Indian Ocean coastline.

Day 2: Road Transfer to Mikumi National Park

Safari begins!

After an early breakfast, depart by 4×4 vehicle for Mikumi National Park (approx. 5–6 hours drive), passing through scenic landscapes and small rural villages.

Arrive in time for a late afternoon game drive in Mikumi, often called a “mini-Serengeti” for its open savannahs and rich wildlife. Look out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, lions, and buffaloes, as well as rare species like sable antelope.

Check into your lodge and enjoy dinner under the stars.

Day 3: Full-Day Safari in Mikumi National Park

Explore the heart of Mikumi

Today you’ll enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the park. The Mkata floodplain is the best place to spot predators and large herbivores, while the surrounding hills offer chances to see eland, greater kudu, and even wild dogs.

Optional visit to a nearby Maasai village or cultural experience can be arranged.

Return to your camp or lodge for a sundowner and freshly prepared dinner.

Day 4: Transfer to Ruaha National Park – Into the Wilderness

From savannah to untamed bush

After an early breakfast, set out for your journey to Ruaha National Park by road (approx. 6–7 hours) with picnic lunch en route — or take an optional scheduled charter flight (at extra cost).

Ruaha is Tanzania’s largest national park and one of the least visited, making it a pristine safari destination. Upon arrival, enjoy a short game drive en route to your luxury tented lodge or riverside camp.

Day 5: Full-Day Safari in Ruaha National Park

Wild, remote, and rewarding

Spend the day exploring the rugged terrain, baobab-studded hills, and seasonal rivers of Ruaha. This park is known for its large elephant herds, lions, leopards, greater kudu, and over 570 bird species.

Game drives take place in open-sided 4×4 vehicles, with knowledgeable guides who help you track animals and share insights into the park’s ecosystem.

Return to camp for a relaxing evening around the campfire.

Day 6: Morning Safari + Flight to Dar es Salaam

Final game drive & fly back to the coast

Enjoy a final early morning game drive or walking safari (seasonal and lodge-dependent), followed by breakfast at camp.

Later, you’ll be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Dar es Salaam

(approx. 2 hours).

Upon arrival, transfer to a nearby hotel for rest and freshening up before your international departure (day-use room included, if needed).

Day 7: International Departure from Dar es Salaam

End of your Southern Tanzania safari

Today marks the end of your safari adventure. Depending on your flight schedule, you’ll be transferred to Julius Nyerere International Airport for your onward or homebound flight.
