Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam – Gateway to the Wild

Welcome to Tanzania’s coastal hub!

Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, you’ll be met by our friendly representative for a warm welcome and private transfer to your hotel or lodge in the city.

Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to relax by the pool, explore the local culture, or enjoy a fresh seafood dinner on the Indian Ocean coast.

Day 2: Flight to Nyerere National Park & Scenic Boat Safari

Start your safari adventure!

After an early breakfast, transfer to the airport for your short bush flight to Nyerere National Park. Upon landing, your expert safari guide will meet you and transfer you to your luxury tented camp or lodge inside the park.

In the afternoon, enjoy a half-day boat safari on the Rufiji River — a unique way to spot wildlife from the water. Watch elephants drink at the riverbanks, hippos wallow in the shallows, crocodiles sunbathe, and flocks of waterbirds take flight as the sun sets.

Return to your camp for a delicious dinner under the stars.

Day 3: Full-Day Safari in Nyerere National Park

Explore Africa’s largest national park

Spend the full day on game drives across Nyerere’s diverse habitats from open grasslands and wetlands to miombo woodlands and acacia forests.

The park is home to lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebras, kudu, wild dogs, and over 400 species of birds. With fewer crowds than northern parks, Nyerere offers an off-the-beaten-path safari experience with fantastic photo opportunities.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush or return to camp for a hot lunch and some downtime before your afternoon game drive. End the day with sundowners and storytelling around the campfire.

Day 4: Return to Dar es Salaam & International Departure

One last sunrise in the bush

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight back to Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to the international terminal for your outbound flight home.

If your international flight departs later in the evening, a day-use hotel room or city tour can be arranged on request.
