The Route, Day by Day
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
Welcome to Tanzania!
Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Kilimanjaro International Airport. A private transfer will take you to your hotel or lodge in Moshi nestled at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Settle in and relax after your flight, or explore the local town depending on your arrival time.

Day 2: Mkomazi National Park & Mbula Rhino Sanctuary
Wildlife conservation meets rugged beauty
After breakfast, head southeast to Mkomazi National Park (approx. 3–4 hours drive), a lesser- known but spectacular park bordering Tsavo in Kenya.
Explore the dry savannah and acacia woodland during a game drive, spotting elephants, giraffes, zebras, gerenuks, elands, and possibly African wild dogs.
Visit the Mbula Rhino Sanctuary, a key conservation project helping reintroduce endangered black rhinos to the region. Enjoy close (but safe) views of these rare giants and learn about their protection.

Day 3: Journey to the Western Usambara Mountains
A scenic ascent into lush green highlands
After breakfast, take a scenic drive toward the Western Usambara Mountains (approx. 3–4 hours). The landscape transitions from dry savannah to lush highlands, with panoramic views of the Maasai plains and farming villages.
Check in at a charming colonial-style lodge or eco-retreat set on the slopes of the Usambara range. Enjoy cool mountain air, bird songs, and dramatic vistas.
In the afternoon, enjoy a short nature walk or local village visit.

Day 4: Explore Usambara & Transfer to Magoroto Forest Estate
From peaks to forest lakes
After breakfast, enjoy a guided morning hike through the Usambara forests a biodiversity hotspot filled with rare birds, butterflies, and medicinal plants. Visit Irente Viewpoint for sweeping views across the Maasai Steppe.
Later, continue the journey to the lush and mysterious Magoroto Forest Estate (approx. 2–3 hours drive), located near Muheza.
Magoroto is a privately owned tropical forest with a serene atmosphere and a lake for swimming or canoeing.

Day 5: Full Day at Magoroto Forest Estate
Adventure meets relaxation in the forest
Spend the day immersed in forest activities and serene relaxation. Go hiking, birdwatching, canoeing on the lake, or take part in forest yoga or guided meditation (optional).
Enjoy a forest picnic or farm-to-table lunch. Learn about the estate’s colonial history, spice farming, and natural beauty.
Evenings are magical with bonfires, stargazing, and local storytelling.

Day 6: Transfer to Saadani National Park – Wildlife Meets the Ocean
Coastal safari begins
After breakfast, begin your journey south to Saadani National Park (approx. 4–5 hours), the only park in East Africa where wildlife meets the Indian Ocean.
Arrive at your coastal lodge or tented camp inside or near the park and enjoy a relaxing afternoon by the beach or pool. Watch for warthogs and monkeys wandering near the lodge.

Day 7: Safari & Boat Excursion in Saadani National Park
Bush & beach in perfect harmony
Start the day with a morning game drive, spotting elephants, buffalo, lions, giraffes, and more in the savannah and coastal thickets.
In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on the Wami River, where crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of birdlife gather at the water’s edge.
Optional activities include fishing, kayaking, or visiting a nearby village for a cultural experience.

Day 8: Relaxation & Beach Walks in Saadani
A day to unwind by the sea
Enjoy a peaceful day in Saadani a rare place where you can relax on a quiet beach while elephants roam in the background. Take a nature walk along the coast, swim in the warm Indian Ocean, or enjoy spa services offered by the lodge.
This is the perfect way to unwind after your overland safari adventure.

Day 9: Drive to Dar es Salaam – City by the Sea
After breakfast, depart Saadani for a scenic coastal drive to Dar es Salaam (approx. 3–4 hours).
Upon arrival, you’ll check in to a comfortable hotel for day-use or overnight, depending on your flight time. Spend your last evening shopping for souvenirs, relaxing by the pool, or dining at a waterfront restaurant.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch (if flight timing allows)
Day 10: International Departure from Dar es Salaam Airport
Transfer to Julius Nyerere International Airport for your outbound international flight. Meals: Breakfast
